Sharon M. Stewart is the group medical director for General Motors. Based in Grandblanc, Mich., Dr. Stewart joined the multinational automobile manufacturing corporation in 2001. She has been practicing occupation and preventative medicine for more than three decades.
As group medical director in a corporate setting, Dr. Stewart is responsible for overseeing General Motors’ occupational and preventative medicine administration. She supervises physicians at all General Motors health clinics and also sees patients, visiting different areas of the carmaker’s design and manufacturing plants.
Dr. Stewart attributes her success to hard work and an understanding of her professional environment. A member of the American College of Occupational Medicine, Dr. Stewart’s passion for health care extends into charity and volunteer work with St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Dr. Stewart earned her MD at Meharry Medical College, Nashville, Tenn. In five years, she plans to continue working on the administrative side of corporate occupational and preventative health care.
